Anyone play Fear yet? Was my b-day party and my buddy got me F.E.A.R which rules! (Real B-day is Dec 18).

So much fun online, however Single player can scare the craps out of me sometimes. AI is really smart, rolling through windows to avoid fire, very nice stuff!

I downloaded the demo from Gamespot awhile back. Plays good. Got burned out on FPS after many years, but this one is definitely on my list -- after the price drops a bit.

I downloaded it about 2 days ago, but my cards are STILL on their way here. From what I've read and heard, it's an extremely good FPS, not as great as HL2, but defently a game to own. One problem, though, that a lot of people kept mentioning, is that it steals a TON of tricks and plot line from The Ring. In fact, I'm surprised the novelist who wrote the original books Ringu and directed the movie didn't try to sue the developers. Oh, and another thing I hear - It's gonna be like DOOM 3 all over again: you're gonna get scared.

hah, yeah. i took a look at the screenshots on gameinformer.com, and plenty of them showed a girl that seemed to have come directly from The Ring walking over the dead and dying bodies of the F.E.A.R. operatives.

honestly, that was enough to scare the crap out of me.....

i need to DL that demo again!

If you are afraid of it, just play it on a mediocre system. It will lag out before any scary part to give you some kind of warning. Also, the little girl moves so slow, just shoot her a couple of times if you want reassurance that she doesn't matter that much.

heh your going to want broadband when play'n online perhaps

2 patchs so far; I'v got em; let check the sizes...
fear_update_en_100_101.exe
21.4 MB (22,507,520 bytes)
fear_update_en_100-101_102.exe
116 MB (122,028,032 bytes)

heh they like to update it alot...

If you watch the Directers Edition trailer thats in the Directers Edition of the game you get a real nice look into the game by watching it instead of play'n it... Watching is diff from generating(heh no lag)...

its almost a spioler so play it a lil first before watching it; otherwise you'll see how fast you can get thru it.

now for Doom 3 being scary; any object coming out the dark will scare you with the right setting... turn up contrast = no more scarry objects.
what doom 3/quake 4 has that F.E.A.R doesnt is, support for wide aspect resoltions... perhaps a patch will fix that later on who knows.

My friend gave me a demo, it's a good game, but unfortunately it isn't that good on my comp.

I would get it, but A) I don't have the money ATM, and B) My machine probably can't handle it at highest graphics settings, and I don't want to play it otherwise. I waited a 5 days for my new card to come so I could play HL2 at highest settings and still get good FPS

On a side note, my ATI 900XT has been acting a bit weak lately. I used to get ~110 FPS in CS:Source, now I seem to be getting ~35. Anybody know if it's my machine, or just Valve's crappy patches?

I didn't really find it scary because the supernatural stuff isn't dangerous at all. And, when the ghostly creatures can hurt you in a supernatural vision, you're warned my some blurry special effects.

However, there were two parts in the game which I found scary. Both of them were when I was against those invisible enemies. The lack of that feeling of safety is what counts as scary IMO. Supernatural cutscenes aren't scary when you find out they can't hurt you.

Well after playing through the game a bit more, some of the stuff is a bit dumb. I mean comon now Blood Pools, Arms getting cut off, bones in blood pools. Pretty sick and gross.. Thank God online play isn't so graphical.

Well lets just say i can't reallly multi task that well with all the command keys that they have lying around and when something scares the crap out of me I just end up dying in two seconds...

bleh scary tactics that sneak up behind you, awesome graphics, storyline simple, and why does everyone have to add a creepy looking kid to add a scare factor?

damn you ><
